• Thomas Brown: It is said that "he lifted at the wheel for others, to the serious detriment of his own shoulders" AND that for every church built in Ingersoll he had a full and open hand.

1874-1875 Fisher & Taylor’s County of Oxford Gazeteer & General Directory listed Mr. Brown's enterprise as Wholesale & Retail Dealer in: Leather, Hides and Oil, Curriers’ Tools, Shoe Findings, &c.,North Side King Street, near corner of Mill Street, Ingersoll, C.W. (Canada West) Shoe findings are components used in the manufacturing of shoes. They include metal components such as buckles, snaphooks, loops, slides, clips, rings, clasps, handles, prongs, snaps and swivels
